    Re: heat riser toast

I cleaned mine up; made sure it worked properly; had the car judged 3x over 3 years; took it off and put it in my "judging parts" box for posterity.

I bought one of these spacers (BB version) and the car runs fine...no more checking; fiddling and wondering if it has frozen up again from all the contaminants in exhaust gases flowing over/thru it...

Yeah, you have to wait a little longer for warm up - but who cares ? It's not like you're driving in sub-zero weather, right ?

Yes, a most useless piece of equipment, you do wonder what the engineers were thinking when they designed it. My third one, that didn't work and wouldn't open, was wired open the other day after me leaving it when I went to the Tucson Regional for judging. The amount of condensation spit out on that side of the exhaust system after just a few days and some short periods of running is just amazing. It is no wonder so many C2s and C3s have rusted out right side exhaust systems over time.
