Question on hose replacement for the 66 Corvette Windshield Washer Nozzles

Here we go> Can one put on new hoses for the above without taking off the Wiper Arms? I noticed
when the arms are raised(maintenance position for changing the inserts) there is a little room between
them and the grills which would be unscrewed and raised up a bit. I thinking possibly with long needle
nose pliers. Has anybody done this?? Thanks in advance>Larry

Don: Thanks for your response. Yes I do have a pair of these. Also thinking of finding/getting a "BIG"" pair of
tweezers that could go around the top of the grill slots. Why do want to stay away from taking the Wiper Arms
off? When I replaced mine(not originals) WITH ORIGINALS>>IT WAS AN ALL OUT BEAR. So easy to scatch
the paint in that area. In the mean time if anybody else has thoughts on this subject PLEASE COMMENT>Larry

To my mind, your way sounds much more hazardous to paint than simply using this specially designed tool. $6 on Amazon

            Larry,

I agree with Don. I'd use the tool designed to remove them from their splines.

            Here's how I do it:

            Good luck !
            thx,

Remove the wipers and the grills. Keep a magnet standing by so you don't drop the screws down the black hole. Just take your time. It is pretty easy.

Re: Question on hose replacement for the 66 Corvette Windshield Washer Nozzles

Update: Making some progress; have the new hose(on drivers side) routed through grommet. Will try to
hook up to nozzle. (Have the nozzles free & rotating) This is w/o taking the wiper arms off which I will refuse to do.
BTW the second tool shown above(small handle with tooth on end)WAS TOTALLY USELESS WHEN I TOOK OFF
THE NON-ORIGINAL ARMS AND PUT ORIGINALS ON. I had to make my own tool which resembles a small
crow bar. It has way more leverage and better angle. Even with the new tool the old ones ONLY came off after using
CRC freeze off and PB B'laster Penetrant. This was done by drilling a hole on top of the old arm "cap" and to put
the Penetrant on top of the spline. This is why I WILL NOT mess with taking off the ORIGINAL ONES. Too risky
for damage. I'll let you know what happens. IF ONE DOES NOT HAVE PATIENCE; DO NOT ATTEMPT WHAT
I AM TRYING TO DO. Thanks>Larry

I never heard of anybody having such trouble. I have been using a wide blade screwdriver with a rag under it since high school. Good luck!

John: Me neither but every car is different how it was stored and used for 50+ Years. Mine had much more
corrosion then most. I cleaned the corrosion off as best I could but my splines increased in size ever so
                    small. Larry

Update>Ok everything installed W/O taking off the arms. Now have discovered I have clogged nozzles.
(Nozzles do swivel OK) When compressed air is put into the hose very little(if any) comes out the nozzle.
I have started another thread on this subject. Please read. BTW>Thanks to all that have responded>Larry

Get a pin from your wife's sewing kit, stick it thru the nozell a couple times and should be good to go. I have done this on numerous cars.

The tool makes this dead simple. You stand more of a chance damaging something trying to get cute with long nose pliers.

rather than invade the wife's sewing basket, i use the tool to clean oxygen-actylene tips. start with the smallest wire then advance to larger wire sizes till you hit a brass color on the wires. mike mccagh

Houston; We got lift off! OK; everything put back together with New Hoses(Kit bought from Paragon) and both sides
working well to my surprise. Never thought a 55+ year car's pump would work. Just primed it and it worked great. This
was all done W/O taking off the arms of the wipers.(Trico Originals) No damage done either. Getting close now for
judging in May. Will be testing for "Operations". Thanks to all that replied; took a little bit of info from all. Larry
