How to unclog the Windshield Washer Nozzels

Have discovered I have clogged nozzles on my Windshield Washer system. First thought was to
put CLR into the hose and blow it through. BUT> When you google CLR they recommend it not to
be used on auto's as it would damage the paint. SO>Does anybody know another product that can
be used W/O harming the paint on the car?? Any ideas are needed. Thanks>Larry

I've used a small toothpick to clear them.

I guess that would depend on where it is clogged. Did you try blowing air thru it? Stick a small pin or wire in the nozzle from both ends?

        Hi Larry,

I found that just the tips of the nozzles was what got clogged on mine.
Dunno if it was from POs waxing the car (and nozzles) - or from evaporation of the water and buildup of solutes in the cleaner shrinking the orifice.

So, before shooting chems thru your hoses, why don't you just try unbending a paperclip and reaming the hole 1st to see if that does the trick.

You can also adjust the direction of flow w/ the clip if the nozzles float freely in their housings.

PS - I was typing as Tim and Terry were answering your question, too.
        thx,
        Mark

Terry>Thanks for the response. Yes; compressed air was used. Will go over them with small pins. Has anybody
tried White Vinegar (Which I believe will not harm Auto Paint) on the Nozzles? More comments are needed please.
          Thanks>Larry

Obtain a welding tip cleaner set of probes at the hardware store. (A couple of $$) t is a handy tool for cleaning small orifices. This will give you a selection of diameters so you don't damage the orifice. Good luck

Remove the nozzle from the car to work on it.

If the clog is mineral build up, then white vinegar will dissolve the scale and won't harm the paint in the least. You'd be best served to remove the nozzles to soak them in it as it takes a while to loosen the deposits.
