Question about grab bar insert. The one in my 66 has a matte/semi-matte finish and the screw holes appear to be drilled straight thru the plastic (no noticeable chamfer). The screws that hold it in place seem to be the correct small head trim screws as called for in the Judging Manual.
I recently bought a repro insert in attempt to resolve some condition issues with the insert that is in the car now. Upon examining the new repro insert, I find that it's quite different than the insert that I removed. The finish on the new one is a shiny plastic finish (the old one is plastic too, but not nearly as shiny). The new one also has pretty significant chamfers around the mounting screw holes that the old one doesn't have.
When I referred to the Judging Manual, the pic included would seem to match up with the insert that is in my car now - matte/semi-matte finish and small holes/no chamfer.
Ultimately the question is - would the repro one get full credit for NCRS judging given that there seem to be some differences between that one and the one shown in the judging manual ?
Thx in advance - appreciate the help from those with more experience
Attached pics are
1. the one from my car now is the one laying on the blue cloth. Notice matte/semi-matte finish and small holes with no/minimal countersink chamfer
2. the new repro one is on the white paper - notice the shiny plastic look and the large countersink chamfer around the holes.
3. this is pic from the Judging Manual - 6th edition. Pic seems to show more of a matte/semi-matte finish and small holes.
