      With an original tire there is very little gap. The reason the tub was changed was, when driving in bad conditions, mud and rain got in and soiled the spare tire.

      Post a picture as the V bar on the lid is unique to 63.

                  Mel it appears correct the gap I see is only because the lid it self should be centered on the hanger bolts. My 63 appears to have about a 1/2” gap all the way around. The rear bolts sound correct.there were 3 different types of bolts for 63. My March car has the welded nuts. At top.
