If you don't do too much night driving and are not worried about judging, the Halogens are a good alternative to the original light bulbs IMO without breaking the bank. I switched over to them in my 64 and am pleased with the upgrade in visibility and similar appearance.
LED's are brighter of course, and more involved with lens selection and adapters ect...but for night driving on mostly well lit roads, I did not feel the juice was worth the squeeze.

I recommend European spec ("e-code") housings with a halogen bulb. Much better pattern yet doesn't blind oncoming traffic.Mark Edmondson
