    part number vs. part specification

Is there a source that would provide the specifications, i.e. dimensions, materials etc. given a part number? I know that I can ask J. Lucia and I appreciate the fact that he has the vast amount of information and willingness to help us all but I was wondering if there was a source in addition.....

I am currently replacing my front grill (front mounting attachments are broken at top and bottom) and I would like to know information surrounding part numbers shown in the AIM on G-208, UPC 11-13 Sht. B1......Part numbers are: 9419252 & 9419727..... I'm sure that I will find this (have to ask this question) many times as I get further along as I go through the car so thought I'd ask.....

This question has probably been asked many times and I did a search on the TDB but didn't come up with anything solid so thought I'd try this.........

I would not be able to answer most of these kind of questions, either. The actual specifications for most GM parts can be found only on the original specification drawings, supplemental specifications and and attendant GM engineering standards. None of those are generally available. A very limited number drawings can be found in Noland Adams' books.

Some of my information does come from original specs that I have been able to obtain over the years but it's a very small part of the "GM parts universe". Other information I can provide may come from having NOS parts I can refer to in order to obtain certain specifications by "reverse engineering".

9419727 is a hexagon washer head tapping screw type AB, 1/4-14 x 5/8 phosphate coated GM 4435-M code A
Do not have info on 9419252. Depending on part # may or may not have blue print.
