Other than the rear filler panel, is there any other modifications that one would make to the body if side pipes were added?

Corvette Central site has a pretty detailed instruction help for Side-Exhaust installation on a Mid-Year, but that won't be much help for you.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate the bump on this post and your link.

I think I found what I was looking for, and perhaps should have better stated what I was questioning. My 68 had side exhaust when I bought it and is since removed / restored. I was not sure if the 68 front fenders had a rectangular "notched" opening behind the front wheel where the rocker panel screws in, or if the previous owner chopped it out.
From looking around, it appears that the notch is factory. (image was grabbed from Corvette Forum)

I had modified my '70 with the 1969 side mounted exhaust system and my 1970 AIM had all the detail in the Option section with a big watermark across the lead page marked "CANCELED". Unfortunately, I'm 600 miles away from my AIM. Yes, there were the cut-out notches as you indicate, but I recall some other mods at the rear wheel wells too. A foil faced fiberglass matt goes against the frame rails.

You do understand that the '68 did not come with side mounted exhaust from the factory. It started and ended in 1969.

I won't have access to my AIM to make copies to post for another 11 days.

As mentioned, I have put my car back to non side exhaust but wanted to double check that those notches were factory for 68s
