AGM versus conventional battery Car driven very infrequently. How long do you think is a good battery life?? Second part Once dead and recharged - would you trust it ??

Re: AGM Battery
I prefer conventional batteries. When I have a car that is driven infrequently; I use a trickle charger continuously. The last battery that I bought was a GM Delco and it came with a 36 month warranty with a non prorated status; that impressed me. Just my 2 cents !- Top

Re: AGM Battery
I have a 1972 LT-1 that had a ten year old battery that would be stored from late November to mid-March and I never used a battery maintainer. It would crank for ten seconds only to fill the fuel bowls when coming out of hibernation. I would then charge it when I got it home.
I replaced the battery only because it was cheaper than getting towed when and if the battery failed, which never happened. So my limit was 10 years. I also have no problem with a battery that has been inadvertently killed and recharged. My daughter has done that without any significant issue.- Top

Re: AGM Battery
Year of your car?
Some problems with AGM in C5. Battery placed over wiring harness and leaks resulted in damage to harness (required wiring bundle replacement).

Dave,
Never had a problem with a AGM battery in a C5, the batteries that leak like a lead acid battery will damage the computer and wiring under the battery in a C5.
I would recommend a AGM battery but get a trickel charger that charges AGM's.

Re: AGM Battery
Jimmy, I have had a AGM battery in a C-2 from 2016 and only use a trickel charger every once in a while and it is still going strong, car driven less than 1000 miles from 2016. 2015 Z06 had original battery and was dropping in volts over the past winter so I replaced it on the safe side, car has 11000 miles. I guess it is a crap shoot.
