Cast iron PowerGlides are notorious for dumping transmission fluid if they sit long enough. When that happens, it's possible it won't engage Reverse. Is there any chance your PowerGlide is just low on fluid?

Fatsco in northern New Jersey has successfully restored my 54 PG and my 57 250HP FI PG. this was after several local tranny shops rebuilt them unsuccessfully. Fatsco ads in Hemmings. mike mccagh
