I'm very confident that the difference between the 3970666 and 3970667 manuals related to the inclusion of the Corvette News order card. It's possible that if a car was originally supplied with a 3970667 and hand-corrected to 3970666 the card was manually inserted into the manual rather than being incorporated into the binding as was the 3970666. That would be the only reason I can think of that someone would have gone through the trouble to hand-correct a 3970667 to a 3970666. Do any of these hand-corrected manuals show any evidence of a Corvette News order stub?

SN 11484 has a 666 Owners manual.
SN 13471 has a 667 Owners Manual
SN 14544 has a 667 Owners Manual
SN 14803 has a 667 Owners Manual.
I believe the late 70s used a 667 manual. We need to keep track of this closer.

VIN 12083 has owner's manual 3970666 and I feel fairly confident this is the original piece that came with the car. It has the order card page included, but I'm sure the original owner sent the actual card off to GM. It looks as if the change may have taken place about the time this car was produced.

I saw this on eBay today... a crossed out 666 with handwritten "7" and half of a Corvette News card. No details from the seller other than "original".

I’m sure 667 OM’s were sold over the counter in 1970 and beyond. Many Helm re-issue OM’s had Corvette News cards. Interesting point made on this thread is that St. Louis apparently ran out of 666 OM’s before the end of 1970 MY production.

Notice the crossed out 7 in the photo above.

Also found this on eBay... paperwork for #13471 which includes a 667 owner's manual scratched out to read 666 and with a used CN subscription card.

I never bought a corvette OM from Helm, but it was my understanding that the Helm versions did not or was not supposed to have the News Card for the very reason that the card was a free subscription to the Corvette News for the new Corvette owner. Are you sure some of the Helms had the card?
