Thomas,...Fast forward two months to today, and I have found a date correct 427/390 block in great shape and correct heads. I am going to not stamp the pad and just leave it clean and take the 83 point deduction when I have it judged. I never want to have my integrity questioned.

Sorry for the parts of your story that are disappointing...

Also, if the stamp pad surface is NTFP in all respects, I believe the deduct is 88 points - but I get what you're doing !

[ATTACH=CONFIG]118122[/ATTACH]Love those Blue Streaks! I had them on my '64, and kept them on for judging through the nationals (took the deductions, no big deal), as a handwritten note on the window sticker indicated it left the dealer with them. Good luck, looks like a great car!

GY Blue Streaks are good looking! I tried ordering some for my '57 in early 1965 but they were on hold for a short time as there was a problem with the white bleeding through. Had to replace my Bucron Cheater Slicks (still in the garage) as I had used all of the cheater up and just had slick left-and some cord. The fellow I bought my '57 from got a set of Firestone Sports Car 200's from the dealer on his silver/red '64 FI coupe with P48's. Ahhh, the good old days.

I feel your pain. My dad purchased a 1967 427/390 roadster with side pipes in 1991. It was completely restored by a corvette dealer in the Midwest and was sold as born with engine and numbers matching.

Would love to know said dealer's name. I guess it's possible that the engine was faked before they got it, but still. I understand if you don't want to share the name in this forum however.

Yes it was ordered with 2 tops, and head-rests. The original soft top was white. The documentation on this car is unbelievable and includes research done by former owners to get more historical data. For example, a Green Beret was the 2nd owner and there is a long hand written letter from his former wife describing how that person came to own the car. Pictures and all from when he returned from Viet Nam.

One of the owners had written to Nolan Adams about making sure the stinger color was correct for the restoration. The correspondence is fairy detailed (as it would be) and included a detailed explanation on how to derive the correct stinger color from the trim tag. The VIN also appears in a couple of component examples in Nolan's restoration guide.

Your comment about the 2 tops was also referenced by Adams within the correspondences with that owner, as a rarity.
