    69 Corvette "427" hood # placement

I'm looking for template or diagram of measurements to drill holes to mount 4-2-7 #'s on hood.

    Ronald,

    Welcome to the TDB...

Try looking at UPC L36 sheet A15 in your AIM.
That's where the dimensions are shown for a '67...dunno if it's the same UPC and sheet in 1969 or not ?
You may surprised (dismayed ?) at how complicated it looks

Thanks Mark. 69 AIM doesn't give anything except "use existing holes". 68/69 hood is different design than C2. This is my first time at this so hopefully I'm replying correctly.

        Ronald,

        OK - I didn't know that's what the '69 AIM said...and I do know the '67 hood is different from yours ...

Sorry it doesn't give you the details...perhaps after the '67 model year with 1st-time 427 holes in the hood, the engineers decided it was better to have the hood manufacturer (Molded Fiberglass Co. [MFG] from Ashtabula, OH) put the holes in as part of delivering their parts.
        thx,
        Mark

I purchased a template from Paragon for my 69 hood.
It was paper, but worked just ok.
But now that Paragon is gone, I wonder if Corvette Central will carry it?

Thanks Joseph. I called C.Central and they had nothing. Do you have paper stencil yet?

Ron, Mine was tore up after using it.
                  I threw it away unfortunately.

Thanks Jack. This is good information. I don't have the chrome hood insert molding on my car but now I have some reference points. Still hoping someone has templates I could rent/buy or use.

I have not checked yet, but the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) used by the factory should help. They are available on Ebay and from Mid America for about $30 each. It is full of good information/

Thanks Bob. Only thing I found in AIM was "use existing holes"
