    Repro 3925522 pulley

It looks to me as the repro pulley has the part number stamped on the wrong side. Is that the case?

First picture is an original and the second is a repro

Original examples of the GM #3925522 AIR pump pulley have the part number embossed on the "deep dish" side as you have pictured. This was actually important in the case of this pulley because assembly instructions specify that the side with the part number is to be installed to the rear.

At least some reproductions of this pulley have the part number embossed on the correct side ( I have one) although the reproduction you pictured is incorrect in this respect.

So, why do some reproductions have it on the wrong side? My guess is that it was done to satisfy folks that want judges to see that they have the "correct" pulley installed even though it's incorrect when it's stamped on this side.Of course, when it's stamped on the correct side it's difficult or impossible to see.

By the way, the GM #3925522 pulley was used for 1968-69 Corvettes with 427, 1968 Camaros with 396, and 1969 Chevrolet series 20 and 30 trucks with 292 engine. No other GM applications that I can find. The 3925522 was discontinued without supercession in October, 1979

1970-71 LS-5 were not equipped with AIR so no pulley was used. However, the 3925522 was used for 1971 LS-6 as well as all 1972 LS-4. I missed those applications in my previous post. There may also have been some non-Corvette big block applications during the 1970-72 period.

As far as Corvettes go, the GM #3932458 was used for 1969 with L-46 as well as all 1975-79 with AIR and C-60. It was also used for all 1969-70 Chevrolet models with special high performance small blocks or big blocks as well as 1972-74 Camaro Z-28's. It was discontinued without supercession in 1985.

As I mentioned, applications for the GM #3932458 include 72-74 Camaro Z-28's. This pulley is available in reproduction and, if I were you, that's what I would obtain and use. Original, used 3932458's sell for HUGE money (probably because they're applicable to 1969 Z-28's) and it's just not worth it.

By the way, when this pulley was last available from GM in 1985 it carried a GM list price of $4.05.

I've seen ASKING prices of $1,000 to $2,500 for USED originals. Whether they get anyone to pay that kind of price I know not. I would think that the excellent available reproductions would greatly reduce the price of used originals but there might be some 1969 Z-28 guys nutty enough to pay the price for an original.

Yes I agree , I want my cars to be as close to original as possible but sometimes the cost outways the good. I only have a handful of repro parts on my cars but this pulley will be one of them just like my 69 L46 the deep groove pulleys are just to much for me
