I'll be impressed if someone knows the answer to this one. Can you identify the missing circuit by referring to the wiring diagram? Or post a photo and let's see if we can figure it out.

The original has 8 electrical prongs but the service replacement 1995191 has 7 prongs. What function did the extra prong serve? Will I loose any functionality if I install the service replacement?
      Thanks for your input.

I cannot tell you what the prong difference relates to. However, I can tell you this: the GM #1995191 switch will SERVICE all 1968-77 Corvette applications and no functionality is lost when using it as a replacement for the 1995166. So, as far as I am concerned, the prong difference is a moot point.

By the way, the 1995166 was discontinued in July, 1974 and replaced by the GM #1995191. The latter was discontinued without supercession in September, 1999.

The 8 terminal switch is installed; I don't have a photo. I looked at a wiring diagram but couldn't find the answer.

As stated above, there is no functional difference. The reproduction part is likely one of the worst replacement parts made Rheostats seem to burn out easily. I finally bought an NOS one

Yes, I saw this situation coming a long time ago and "stocked up" on the GM #1995191 just before they were discontinued in 1999.

Thanks for the responses. My experience with the reproductions has not been favorable. I purchased a nos 1995191 on ebay. It had not been tested before I got it. The on/off function did not work. The seller accepted refunds and sent a nos 1995166 in its place. It turned out to be a good purchase after all.
