Over the years I've read many of the previous posts about SB Chevy camshafts for the 327/350hp 327 engine including many posts from Duke and JoeL regarding the Mcaugh (sp?) special and Joe's discussions about newer roller cam technology.
I know there isn't really a good comparison between flat tappet and roller cam technologies due to the differences in ramp-up profiles, etc.
However, I'm interested in any recommendations for an actual roller camshaft that comes close to the L79 in terms of performance (or slightly better since the heads are massaged, etc) and lopey sound. The car is far from original and will never be judged so I'm not looking for something that passes judging necessarily. I'm just looking for something that puts me in the same ballbark or a bit better than stock.
Anybody actually put a roller cam in their Gen-I and have experiences and/or recommendations to share?
