    70 LT-1 alternator issues.

Had the LT-1 in for service. Was told alternator was bad. I noticed it had movement side to side,(9to3), only.
    Assumed bad bearing.

Pulled the front cover and found the entire bearing was moving in the bore. Bearing itself seemed fine. Also, I was able to pull the bearing out with little effort.

Certainly not looking to replace the dated 884 cover. Wondering if the front housing bore can be sleeved to correct an out of round condition? ( if that's the problem)
Plan to send it for a rebuild. I know better than to screw with it.
