John Amgwert Induction to NCM Hall of Fame

Just a few of the highlights of John Amgwert's induction to the NCM Hall of Fame on Saturday night, September 2nd...I even traveled to Washington to meet Dennis Clark and act as his traveling companion as he can't travel alone...it was a magnificent evening for all involved.

            Nice pictures Vinny.

I was honored to be asked by John to do the induction. Of course, John deserved this recognition. For his work in guiding and holding NCRS together for it's first 25 years.

In the next days The Museum will post a link to the video that accompanied the actual Induction, and I may get to hear what I said about John. I actually don't redeemer. lol

John was a cornerstone of the beginnings of NCRS. He did a wonderful job on the first publications. Congrats John; and well deserved!

I just added the video introduction of John that was played at the ceremony...well worth the view...about 9 minutes of great video. So take a look at the album again...

The Induction Ceremony was fabulous, made more special by the presence of John's family, and much of his NCRS family. Special thanks to Vinnie for bringing Dennis Clark to this wonderful event, and to Terry for presenting John and, I believe, initiating his nomination for the HoF.

Thanks Mike for the compliment, but I have to be honest and embarrassed to tell you I had nothing to do with John's nomination. That process is supposed to be secret. John asked me, and I told him what I just said and he asked me to find out who he nominator was. I have been trying to do that without success -- so far. I think I know who knows the answer, but so far even I can't get them to tell me.

As I told you and the rest of the NCRS group who came to the event: I am so glad you all came. I know it was a long trip for many of you, and Vito who along with Emilie had to leave to get home so soon that they missed many of the pictures. It was great to see Dennis and I am so grateful to Vinnie for going way out of his way to get Dennis, to the event. Those of us who have known Dennis for a while will remember his Dipstick teeth. He told me he brought them along. If he put them in I didn't see it though. To those of you who don't know about Dennis and his teeth, I just can't do judtice to the story. You had to be there.

Edit add: I tried to find the nominating process on the museum web site without success. I will try to summarize the process as described by Sharon Brauner, President & CEO at the induction Ceramony. The process has changed in the last two years, so I am not sure I fully understand it.
You were there Mike, so if you remember more than I do (which is likely) please help.

Anyone can place a name in nomination by emailing info@corvettemuseum.org with the subject line HOF Nomination or by mail to the Corvette Museum, 350 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101

The nomination should include a statement of the person nominated and their qualifications.

The Nominating Committee (Consisting of 12 to 15 people whose names are secret) meets once a year to review the nominations and select three people nominated from each category to send to the voters. The voters, consisting of around 100 people who are also secret, select one person in each category to be inducted.

That is the process as I understand it, but I may be missing some of the details because, as I said, it is a new to me process. Anyone who knows more may add or correct me please.
                              Terry
