    Differential Detective Work

Was checking my differential fluid last week and ended up trying to raise or see if I could uncover the actual rear ID codes. Well I managed to verify the rear carrier ID 3871375, in plain view but upside down and matches the technical manual however, the rest of the puzzle was not as productive. I did manage to raise a few numerals. Looks like January 21 which is prior to the cars build date. However the gear code and year has not shown itself. I have been using a Dremmel with a small, soft wire like brush and polishing wheel. Any suggestions as to proceed? Is it to far gone?
