What year did the little indent where you insert the key in the door lock disappear?

Re: Door Locks
Jimmy,
I haven’t studied this extensively, but I had an exchange with Bill Caldwell around 2011 and this question came up. Bill taught me a several interesting things about door locks that I had never paid attention to before. He told me the dimple in the shutter or wiper piece existed for ‘66 and earlier door locks (see photo), and that 67 door locks do not have the dimple. But I later learned that the story is a bit more complicated than that. The ‘68 Corvette had a one-year-only door look style, which was a round, push button with the lock cylinder located within the push button. Those ‘68 push button door locks do indeed have the dimple in the shutter. I presume, for 1969 and later, with the return to the ‘67-style door locks that was secured to the door panel, the shutters have no dimple. Like for ‘67. But I haven’t looked specifically at ‘69s and newer C3 years to confirm that. Maybe some owners of ‘69s will chime in and show us a close-up photo or two.

Here’s a original door lock for a ‘67, with no dimple in the shutter.

And here’s a ‘68 door lock integral to the push button, with the dimple.
