Ok, Good then. Just wanted to be sure as I've never tested one of those fuses before.

Found this in my stash o' stuff. Believe it's NOS Casco, but have no documentation or recollection of acquiring same.

Fred, That's a very good question. Tell her I said that.

I'm now wondering if it's actually a circuit breaker and not a "fuse".

In Gary's photo of the package there is no current rating.

Gary is anything stamped on the part itself?

Gary, I'm unsure but if it is a CB it'd reset after cool down.

Heat might trip it too, then reset.

There's nothing on the back of the package? Not even current rating?

If I had one you know me.... I'd open it up to see inside.

I'm holding it with pliers as Gary had it all apart in a bag when he sent it to me.
                            20240522_060753.jpg

I wanted to find the "fuse" inside the unit, or if it was a circuit breaker of some type. At first when Gary sent me the photos of it all apart, I thought the coil spring might be the fuse. I thought unwisely.
                            20240522_060849.jpg

Here are sequence photos during dissection. The little cardboard tube was opened up by simply peeling back the edges.
                            20240522_062220.jpg 20240522_062002.jpg

Then I was able to remove the internal pieces. Inside the cardboard tube you can see the 4 pointed contactors. I believe those are the "fuses".
                            20240522_061416.jpg 20240522_061401.jpg

On the opposite side of the 4 contact fuses, it is the contactor "button" which mates with the 4 large contacts on the insulated phenolic insulator(brown item with 6 tabs).

                            20240522_061245.jpg 20240522_062312.jpg

I cleaned all of the contacts and reassembled the device. Sequence photos below.

                            20240522_064808.jpg 20240522_064743.jpg

I used a small socket and my vice to press the assembly together while bending the 6 lock tabs over with wide pliers.

                            20240522_083019.jpg

Here it is all back together.
                            20240522_083704.jpg 20240522_085639.jpg

I tested it for continuity and if shorted to ground. All good.
                            20240522_085035.jpg 20240522_085540.jpg

Then I boxed it up and sent it back to Gary. It'll make good conversation next time his buddies come over for a visit when they hear the trip it went on. I sent it back to him on May 24th, USPS, Ground Advantage with tracking. He just received it yesterday, June 8th. It took a 15 day countrywide tour, heading from here in my town in eastern Florida to Gary's place in western California, stopping in Orlando, then Utah, then back to Orlando, then out to Utah again, then San Francisco, then back east to Texas, then eventually to California. It's actually quite hilarious. See below.
