    Guide Power Beam headlight

One bulb out on my 73. Any info on who supplies original replacements?

    Re: Guide Power Beam headlight

Doug, to the best of my knowledge no one is reproducing the Guide Power Beams for the 73/74. One of my low beams was out when I bought my car. I was able to find a pair on EBay but that was also 8 years ago. High beams were a little easier to find compared to low beams. Good luck !!

Yes John, I was thinking of that. I was actually in process of ordering some bolts from Richard Fortier who said he may have a bulb. If not I'll try Dave.

          Thanks, Doug

Michigan Chapter member Jeffrey Salz #13182 can probably help you. Give him a try.

                Re: Guide Power Beam headlight

Following up on this. Turns out in ordering some bolts from Richard Fortier he did have a NOS Guide high beam. So it's on the way.

Interesting point he told me, maybe already know here. He said the headlight prongs get loose and air leak causes failure. So he suggested epoxy around the prong bases to seal them up. Wiggling the prongs on and off the harness stresses the prong seals.

                Tks. Doug

                      Doug,
This suggestion has been around for years. In the past I have used some Gorilla silicon sealant around those terminals. Currently, I don't use anything because I'm not removing and installing the headlamps over and over again which could cause the terminals to "leak". Can't hurt, as a precaution...especially if you're installing old OE bulbs.

Thanks Leif. I'm currently replacing one bulb with a NOS one. Then cleaning & polishing all four, so as a precaution I will coat all prong bases with this. Doug

My '73 has 3 original Power Beam headlamps (SAE H71) and 1 Power Beam replacement. Driver side has PB lamp #1, stamped B131, #2 B104, Passenger side #1 J201 (replacement) and #2 B127. I'm not sure what the B and J markings stand for. Date code maybe? I found the replacement lamp #1 PB J201 at the Bloomington Gold event held at Pheasant Run back in 2002. Just lucky a dealer had one. That was the first year for holding the event in St. Charles. I believe the #1 lamp is the high beam, #2 low beam.
