Good question - the Palmetto stuff doesn't produce a rich dark black, not like Owen's results or if they were shot with SEM Trim Black, if you know what I mean. It is more like a very dark, really dark, flat charcoal color. Coat them with WD40 and / or paste wax after it dries produces a very dark finish that looks like it was once black but has aged. It looks like a bolt that was factory finished 15 years ago.

Just to be clear, Ed, I've not used any products - just reposted Frank's pic and had a question.

Owen, just worked ok for me on my cell. Try clearing cache and delete NCRS cookie and log in again, retry.

If nogo, best to submit a trouble ticket.

"Those look great Frank. How susceptible to marring from a wrench is the treatment - about the same as the factory black oxide?"
Owen, I believe similar to factory Black Oxide. I am very pleased. Frank

That did the ticket: logged out> cleared all NCRS cookies> quit FF> relaunched & logged back in. Seems a go - thanks!

Those are really beautiful results which I would expect from the Caswell black oxide. That being said, I question whether any fasteners used in Corvette ever actually were finished with black oxide. Please correct me if I am wrong but it has been my understanding that this dark black (actually very attractive) finish is not typical factory production. It was more grey- black phosphate. I think that if this dark finish is more appealing it should absolutely be used as I have in the past. But to be clear, does it really appear as "about the same as the factory black oxide"? Again, if I am wrong let me know. And again, I am impressed by the results shown above.
                Jeff
