    Re: 1965 N11 Exhaust Question

Here's an over-the-counter N11 system from the 80's with the Off-Road Assembly in yellow. I'm in the process of removing the part numbers.

      Ray,

I have not yet installed my N11 exhaust system. I went out to the shop last night in search of the stencil which I bought when I bought the exhaust system. I can't find it! I'll keep looking and get back to you. Hope fuly someone else will have one also and will post a picture sooner .

                Re: 1965 N11 Exhaust Question

The assembly drawing for the whole system does not call out for an off road stamp and the detail drawing for the muffler which appears to be from Arvin the manufacturer doesn't either- it does however call out for embossed asbestos sheet 0.030 thick which I'm sure they skip on the repros.

Could it be the stamp was added at St. Louis as a type of error proofing since the systems looked the same ?

                  John,

If the system used in production did not have embossed numbers on the mufflers, but the service replacement system did, does that mean there were separate engineering drawings for the two systems?

It appears the same drawing was changed in 1976 when the note requiring the markings was added.

Joe Santamaria and I did a Tech Session at the Texas Regional about doing this modification. Here's the finished product. The system is mounted and has gone through many heat cycles with no issues. I'm working on another N11 exhaust system now.

Gary, if you PM me your email address, I can send you a write-up and photos from our August 26th Texas Chapter tech session. It's actually a very simple procedure.
