1969 Jack Storage Box

Doing some restoration work on a early 1969 jack storage box and wondering if this hole is factory - normal? Or, did a previous owner drill a hole in the bottom for some odd reason.

My original owner, September, 1969 built convertible does not have the hole. My guess is that the hole was added by some owner that thought there was a need for a compartment drain hole.

Hi Joe,

Yep, seemed odd to me that a small (roughly 3/16") hole was drilled right next to the larger black plastic cap plug. If they wanted / needed a drain hole they could of just removed the black plastic plug?

Thanks Joe and Gary for the replies. I'll put it on my list of things to fix. I have fiberglass, resin, white and black gel coat tint so I'll be able to make the small hole disappear. Thanks again for the clarification.

I know the question has been answered but since I was underneath my 69 I thought I would take photo and send it along. I have a couple of more attachment rivets than yours but I have a factory alarm which has some additional items in the box.
