2007 c6z06 battery shutoff for judging

Have a judging coming up next week for my 2007 C6Z06 and can't find a battery shutoff switch to fit into the battery compartment. Does anyone know one that fits or how this dilemma is solved?

    Hello;
    Recently had our 2007 judged.
After trying to find a battery disconnect and considering what affect disconnecting the battery would have on the settings we decided to
take the minimal 1/3 of the 10 points gained or -3.

      Ray,
Thanks for the input. I was thinking like you but needed reinforcement.

I can't speak to the settings for your 2007, but for my 2008 Z06 the only setting affected by a battery disconnect is the side window indexing. To reset takes about five seconds. I am told C5s are different and a PITA to reset everything, but I don't find my 2008 resetting to be overly burdensome.

Battery disconnect clearance is dependent on battery location, which is dependent on engine type. There are also different types of battery disconnects, and that subject has been beat to death in other threads on this and other forums. A broad-brush approach to this issue is not the best approach. We need to discuss battery location and type of disconnect, and electronic reset issues (if any) in order to solve these issues. Seeking the experience of others is a good start, but we need to know the exact parameters in order to be productive.

            Guys,

FWIW, if it's an indoor meet with a Fire Marshal approved floor plan and permit. Not to have the battery disconnected via cable removal or battery cutoff switch is a big violation of the fire permit and could result in the show being shut down.

            Just sayin',

              Gary,

Thanks for the clarification. I can see why indoor judging would be different.

My issue is that a disconnect to fit on the battery in the battery compartment of the C6Z06 and ZR1 doesn't seem to exist. This battery is located over the rear wheel.

Yes in the Z06 there is zero room for the disconnect. You could add one but you wouldn't be able to close the cover, which is not good due to the potential for battery gasses to enter the cabin.

By definition, a battery disconnect is a device that allows one to "disconnect" a battery, correct? This is a special case and our organization needs to adjust for this type of issue. It's a safety issue. Might I suggest the battery disconnect to be allowed for judging the C6 Z06, or any similarly equipped future model year with the rear mountedbattery, be defined as:

A 1/4" Drive Ratchet, or equivalent rotational device and a attached 10MM socket tool, placed in the rear compartment area near the battery cover at all times during judging. This will allow the user to simply remove the negative battery cable clamp from the battery, in seconds.

This would take about the same amount of time to disconnect the battery as turning a Green Knob. This device is also to be allowed as the "battery disconnect" and be awarded the extra judging points.

                  Lets keep it simple.

                    Rich,

Best to sending your findings to Pete Bergmann the Team Leader. And Cc Dave Brigham so he's aware of the potential Fire Marshal issue for the Convention.
