    Fuel sending unit

I had a sending unit restored by Frank Wolf in the past and understand that company no longer does this. I believe there are others who do but are pretty expensive.

I have an original that I decided to rebuild/restore myself. I have mostly finished but I need to do some sealing around the inside of the base where the terminals go through. I have attached a picture of on that was restored by Frank Wolf and you can see the adhesive/sealer, which is white, covering the inside of the base around the terminals.

Anyone have a suggestion for a gasoline resistant epoxy or maybe an idea of what the Frank Wolf guy used?

I have emailed the company to see if they can tell me what he used, but no response so far.

    thanks,
    Don

Don I've tested a number of sealers made for gas and suggested sealers from others and they all failed in a test with gas in a quart can. Surprisingly Brush-on electrical tape from BLUE MAGIC held up well. I was testing it for electrical parts in sending units and it's the only one that lasted. It comes in black ,white and some colors.

        Don,

Even though John R. Wolfe no longer restores fuel senders, they are still in business and I have to think they know what they used to seal the terminals. Why not call them and ask? Otherwise you might just be going down a long trial and error path that Wolfe has already gone down and found a solution.
