Paul, had that happen to my 64, the brake light switch got out of adjustment somehow, and cooked my lenses. Fixed the problem but now before I disconnect the battery I push the brake pedal and watch the amp meter to if on/off function is good. Happy hunting,

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

Dan, That does make sense. The brake light producing the most heat. I will check out the brake switch this weekend. Thanks for the direction.

Dan's suggestion is spot on. You might, also, consider swapping out the 1157 incandescent bulbs with some LEDs.

            Paul,
If you only change the rear lights to LED, you can probably get away with NOT changing the turn signal flasher. If you go front and rear LED, then you will have to change the flasher...obviously, not a big deal at all.

Thanks Leif. If I find a defective brake pedal switch as Dan suggested, I’ll report back. That would be the most logical problem at this point.
