    Connecting remote starter

Which two of the terminals on C-2's and c-3's starter/solenoid do I connect to a hand-held remote starter? When working by myself on a car it would be most helpful if I could use a remote starter to turn over the engine, for example to set the valves, static timing, find out if fuel pump works and other chores. Mind you I DO NOT want to start the engine, just turn it over or spin it. Which terminals (color, label/letter) do I clip-on the small alligator clamps on my starter? Does the key need to be in the ignition and, if so, in which position, ON?
    Thanks
    Ric

    1) Make sure the car is in neutral !!!!!!!
    2) Leave the key off
    3) Connect 1 clip lead to the main (large) terminal on the solenoid
    4) Connect 1 clip lead to the terminal marked "S" on the solenoid
    5) Push your button. Have fun.........

How to hook up a remote starter is a good question.

It is my understanding that in addition to Stephen's helpful comments you should disconnect the battery before making any connections.
Also, disconnect the primary distributor lead from the negative on the coil, reconnect the battery, AND ignition switch must be in the ON position.
      Use only to "bump" engine.

If I remember correctly the CSM states adding a remote jump switch is not recommended.

I'm sure the experts can clarify all this.

Why disconnect the coil and turn on the ignition?

Two more accurate ways to turn the engine is with a breaker bar on the harmonic bolt, or if it's a manual transmission, put it in top gear and roll the car forward.

Can't see if a sparkplug is sparking or if the fuel pump is pumping by turning the engine by hand.

No, but you can more accurately static time and adjust valves.
