    69 l71

With the accelerator pedal pushed to the floor should the center carb throttle blade be at a full 90* angle to the base plate of the carb or something less than 90*.

    Thanks

Yes, throttle blade should be vertical. Makes sure your throttle cable is seated properly in the bracket on the intake manifold. There is a little lip on the throttle cable sheath to positively locate the cable.

      Thanks Chris.
When I seated the cable as you described I lost more throttle, so I moved the sheath rearward which gave me more throttle. I will check the cable end position on the throttle lever.
I am curious if my new carpet is encumbering my pedal travel. Will check it out.

        Lawrence,

In my restoration/modification efforts, I had replaced my orig accelerator cable with a new one available from one of the popular Corvette parts suppliers. I had the same issue as you have experienced. (Had to retract the cable in the bracket by almost 5/8" to get it to open fully). I am in the process of de-rusting the carb end of my orig cable and will reinstall in its place.

            Lawrence,

I examined my orig cable and found no markings anywhere per se, but did note "HP" and "10" on the black grommet at the accelerator end of my orig. cable assy.

I'm not saying that a replacement cable may be the root cause of your issue, but it was a cause of mine.

Your suspicion of the new carpet installation is definitely worth investigating, especially if you did not have this issue before the carpet install.
