    Concours qualification and judging

I'm currently traveling and don't have access to my judging manual, so I'm posing these questions.
I'm looking at an early C3 that has been fully restored to the stock look, except that the owner installed a non-matching hypo motor. I currently don't know if the exterior, and interior colors have been changed, but they look to be a stock configuration for the year.
My one question is if this car qualifies for the Concours class, and would it be classified in the stock or modified sub-class.
My second question is whether this same car can be judged a second time but in the 68-69 class once the original engine is put back in, which I probably wouldn't be in a hurry to do.
My third question is if Concours judging can be done at the chapter level.
    Thank You.

    1. Close all the doors & hood, then stand back and look at the car. If it looks stock it is in the stock concours class, if it looks modified it is in that class.
    2. Yes, cars can be judged in both Flight & Concours class (but not at the same meet).
    3. Yes, Concours judging is done at the Chapter level.

I am not an expert on the Concours class, nor do I have my Judging Reference Manual at hand, but I will try to help. I just hope I don't confuse things.

      1) My understanding is with the doors and hood closed; from 10 to 20 feet if the car looks stock -- ignore the wheels -- it fits the Concours Stock class. I believe it must have a corvette VIN.

      2) I don't know this one.

      3) There is a Concours Class at all three levels of NCRS Meet, so yes it can be judged at a Chapter level.

Richard: Having been judged in this class I'll try to answer your questions>

1)If it looks stock with hood closed (Wheels are exempt).will qualify for Stock Class. Note Color of car MUST HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE
FOR THAT YEAR. EG.>If color is black but black was not offered that year it will go into the modified class.

        2) Yes but not at the same meet.

        3)Yes

Couple of Notes: Operation test is very similar to flight judging so all must work if no deductions
is sought after. Hope this helps. Larry

I have to point out that Operations in the Concours Class exempts items that have been removed as part of the customization process. So, if the audio system no longer exists due to customization, no deduction is made for the lack of radio functionality. On the other hand, if the car has six taillights, some functionality is expected from ALL of them. Any intended combination of stop/parking and back-up lighting is acceptable.

VERY TRUE; BUT IF YOU GOT THEM THEY BETTER WORK. MOST CARS I HAVE SEEN THAT ARE IN THE STOCK CLASS
WOULD ONLY HAVE STOCK ITEMS AND NOT ITEMS YOU MENTIONED AS THEY WOULD MOST LIKELY BE IN THE MODIFIED CLASS. JMHO

VERY TRUE BUT IF SIX TAILLIGHTS THIS WOULD GO INTO THE MODIFIED CLASS NOT STOCK. MY COMMENTS ONLY
APPLIED TO THE STOCK CLASS but same rules exits for both. Thanks>Larry

              Re: Concours qualification and judging

We have had cars that have been judged in both classes different years at the Frisco Regional.

True that Larry. I did overlook the move to Modified in my poor choice of example.
