JosephThank you Gary
The JG states that after July of 1969, all 427s started using the above long handled crimped end style dipstick.
If you do find one, see if the dipstick bell housing is loose and rotates or if its soldered to the stem.
Both of mine are loose and freely rotates.
This is an interesting observation you have made. Most of us would never have noticed. Nice job. Good powers of observation. I wonder if this signifies different suppliers?? Any other differences in the dipsticks???
I doubt the bell is soldered to the dipstick. I believe it is somehow mechanically fastened (crimped) to the dipstick. Gary has an ample amount of 1969 BBs available to him to examine dipstick assemblies in more detail. Might be time to visit the library too.Terry- Top
