Re: 1966 427 Right Hand Valve Cover Question.
Hi- Probably not much help, but I have an unrestored L-72 that also has a 10-19-65 assembly date (car prod. date Oct 22,1965) that does not have the indentation.
I am curious though- Is your 10-19-65 block gusseted?
Thanks- E.J.- Top

Re: 1966 427 Right Hand Valve Cover Question.
E. J. Yes, my 10-19-65 block is gusseted. My car is also unrestored and was judged for the first time ever at a regional NCRS event last June. The judges took special note of the gussets as its my understanding the NCRS is trying to narrow down when the gussets appeared and or disappeared.- Top

Re: 1966 427 Right Hand Valve Cover Question.
Reading the TIM&JG, it seemz I'm a little confused with the 'early November 1965' verbiage. Since the valve cover was installed when the engine was built in Tonawanda... is that early November time period, referring to the ENGINE or VEHICLE assembly date?- Top

Re: 1966 427 Right Hand Valve Cover Question.
Don't know if this will help, but here is some information for Noland Adams's Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide - Volume 2. The two upper pictures of the right side valve cover 427/390 engine are of my dad's unrestored 1966 taken in St. Louis back in the mid 1980's. I wish I could say we still own it.

Re: 1966 427 Right Hand Valve Cover Question.
Can anyone provide a part number for the RH indented valve cover? As of 3-12-65 valve cover 3877632 RH does not show indentation HOWEVER a large red stamp on print states "Drawing out for change".- Top
