    1969 gas and brake lines

Now remember someone once said no such thing as a dumb question. I have some original lines that are in good shape ,others will be thrown out. I sanded the and are wheeled them and they do look nice. What can be done to keep them nice, should I seal them, paint them some small ones could be replated . Or just I just buy new? Has anyone used theirs?

I replaced all brake and fuel lines, except the fuel line from the fuel filter up to the carburetor. To keep them as nice as possible I put a light coat of matte clear coat on them. My lines were not good enough to keep plus I would not have trusted them anyhow.

Yeah not all of mine were good enough either but I have a couple short brake lines and a gas line that when wire wheel brushed looked beautiful , l guess I will try some clear too; how long would it last?

I really don't know how long it will last. But I used it on a number of parts on the car to stop surface rust from occurring. I completed the car last year but have been using clear for the 10 years it took to get it done. If you keep solvents off of the lines, probably hold up reasonably well.

Yes I will try clear, I have not used the matte clear , out of curiosity why I use satin but have no good reason to really do not even know the difference. I guess that would be a whole new topic

I have sprayed zinc rich (90%+zinc) "cold" galvanizing paint onto a rag and rubbed it onto parts which were zinc plated or galvanized, especially onto original fuel tanks which have some minor corrosion where the galvanizing is worn or scratched.
Attatched is a photo of a 69 Camaro fuel tank, under the strap you can see some minor pitting which I wire brushed and then rubbed some cold galvanizing paint into the corrosion. It looked the same for the 5 years I had it.
