Re: 1970 Order Copy Option Codes
Charles
The order copy and build sheet were one in the same in 1970. The HV is the broadcast code (tag) for a 454 with a sprung load over 777, # 3931826. The G32 would be an optional rear gear, but you show it as a rear spring. I'm sure others can clarify, more familiar with 1970 builds.Tom Russo

Re: 1970 Order Copy Option Codes
I have a '70 with 300 HP base engine. My Order Copy looks like it lists 03F62HS for front spring, and 0363ZEA as rear spring. (order Copy was found under dash). The Posi Axle listed is 03G81AF (I have a 3.36 ratio)
While hard to read, my study of it looks like four numbers followed by 3 letters on that rear spring.

Re: 1970 Order Copy Option Codes
Thanks for your responses. Bill, comparing your order copy to mine, the rear code looks similar if not the same. Perhaps I misread mine. I also found mine under the dash.- Top

Re: 1970 Order Copy Option Codes
Hi Charles,
Upon further examination, and keeping with a letter/number format that seems to be consistent, it appears the info on my build sheet is noted as follows (I added spaces for clarity):
03 GV4 AB Rear Axle 3.36 Ratio
03 G81 AF Positraction Axle
03 F62 HS Front Springs
03 G32 EA Rear Springs
It appears it is the middle three alpha-numeric characters that define the build item detail.
I saw another's Order Copy that listed GV3 as a rear axle ratio of 3.08.
BTW - I came across a thread from John Hinckley regarding the suffix letters on the Positraction item code for a question on a '68 02G81SA:
"The "SA" is an ECL code (Exception Letter Code), which triggered the Engineering Bill of Material to produce a specific listing of parts unique to that particular axle application in combination with other options specified on the same car. Noland covers these ECL's in detail in his midyear book, but I've never seen any similar ECL breakdown charts for '68-up Corvettes."
John Hinckley was a great, one-of-a kind resource for us and is sorely missed by all of us in this hobby.Bill Bertelli
