Re: 1968 Door Jam water diverter strip
Look in the JRG. Early cars had none; sometime during production, a rubber strip was added. The fiberglass strip began during 1969 production. Gary may know SN range. For some reason, it was deleted in 1972 and 1973. I know because the carpet got wet anytime my car was washed.- Top

Re: 1968 Door Jam water diverter strip
Jeff, As I posted on another thread, I am not convinced they put a "water dam" in the door jams. 69 AIM shows it being added 11-20-68, well into 1969 production. My April 1st built 68 does not have one and I know of a real original July car, it also does not have one.
I think the dealers added a variety of attempts to stop the water. Pieces of weatherstrips, saw a car with about 1/2" wide bead of caulk, painted over.
If I was restoring a 68, I'd leave it out.
