    Simple Hose Clamp Question

I am almost embarrassed to ask how the following hose clamp is supposed to work. The clamp goes around both ends of the fresh air hose on the passenger side in the engine bay. I know that it bends around to make a circle and I am guessing it just gets clamped together with the force of the screw. But I am not able to get the clamp very tight since it doesn't have the worm type screws of today.

Anyone have any tricks on how to get these clamps to work well?

Jason I have some photos at home, when I get back soon I'll post them.

You're not alone. The repros are a pain, especially the FI hose clamps.

Jason, it's not obvious how this clamp works unless you see one in use.. The tail loops around and goes behind the clamp, through the slot into the circle, and folds down tight against the loop. The adjustment is only about 1/2" in total.

No. You laced the end opposite of what my photo shows.. Reverse the tail end so it goes inside the loop, not outside of it..

Don it's hard to see which one is the end loop in your photos though.

                    Re: Simple Hose Clamp Question

So it looks like these clamps don't tighten on their own and I have to get them as right as possible then turn the screw to keep the clamp at that position.

                    Is that correct?
