    '66 Air Conditioning Compressor Specs

Had my Air Conditioner Compressor in for some work (with Domenic Tallarita) and he is having some issues getting into his shop, therefore I do not think I will see it again for some time.

I'm probably going to purchase a replacement unit so I can use the car in the
    interim.

First, does anyone have any input on a good supplier of rebuilt A6 compressors. Local parts stores (AutoZone etc) and Corvette parts suppliers have them. I assume they come from the same small group of rebuilders.
Second for a L36 '66 car (part # 6550113) what size pulley did it have - many of the suppliers list three different sizes between 5 and 6" diameter pulleys.

Since I cannot get to my compressor any other info would be appreciated- so I get the correct replacement.

    Joe,
I would give Old Air Products in Ft Worth, Tx a call. They can answer all your questions and supply you with the correct parts.

      Joe:

I would recommend the ALMA A6 Compressor. It is an almost exact duplicate externally from original A6, but has better internals and seal. Leif or myself can give you the exact part number for your car if you cannot find it in our earlier threads. I do not have my files available at this time...as I recently moved from New Orleans to Bowling Green to be closer to family.

Buy a reproduction label for the compressor and almost no one will be able to tell the difference.........but compressor will perform better than original.

EDIT: Alma compressors also called APCO Compressors. APCO is Alma Products Company. Buy only the new one, not any remanufactured ones. NAPA, Zip, Corvette Central, possibly Old Air Products, ACkits, and others carry them. If you can't get ordering info for your exact model, you can call the Alma Tech Service, or let Leif or myself help you out. But it might take me a day or two.
