Does this embossed number have anything to do with dating or just a mold # or perhaps an ID # the manufacture/vendor used? IMG_2119.jpgIMG_2124.jpg

Re: Numbers on 78 dash
I would venture to guess that, given its a Pace Car , its the p/n for the silver metallic instrument panel. The Aim calls out the i/P instrument panel chart which I have yet to find which would list the p/n's for all the various interior colors. I could not find a reference on the build sheet which began to list interior trim in 75-76 but it only shows "shelf pad." The shelf pad, I'm guessing is the flat black trim that borders and butts up against the windshield.Tom Russo

Re: Numbers on 78 dash
Looking at your picture, I think you're right with your mold # comment.
The left side appears to have male and female matching "icons" or "symbology" - as if they are visually saying the number to the right of it refers to injection mold #1.
Plastic injection molds don't wear out like metal stamping dies, but for quality control and defect tracking knowing which mold was a potential culprit is important to whomever the part supplier was.thx,

Re: Numbers on 78 dash
If you guys haven't had the dash of your 78 out...turning the dash over found a lot of info embossed into the dash. Right side between glove box hinges. Any thoughts on what this all means? Pace car and was built early April 78.
