    69 Behind the Dash Wiring

Sorry for this long post, but I'm in desperate need of direction regarding wiring routing behind the left side dash going to the gauges and hvac controls on my 69. I've had everything out for a very long time while insulating all surfaces prepping for new carpet and redyeing everything. Shame on me I didn't take enough photos during disassembly. I have the left side dash in place and all new LEDs work for speedo and tach. However, I can't get the harnesses and wires routed to give me enough length to reach the gauges when installing the A/C duct for the center and left outlets. Of course while routing everything, I have to leave enough room to push the lower right side of the dash toward the firewall to align with the console. The AIM isn't much help.

The main harness leaves the fuse block and is routed over the left A/C outlet, under the speedo cable, over the steering column, under the tach cable, then up to near point 2b in photo 2.

I hope the photos will adequately describe my situation. I'm trying to figure out which wires approach the gauges from behind the duct at point A or point B in photo 1.

    Photo 2
1 - wires to right side for flasher, courtesy light & other
2a - wires to gauges and lights
2b - gauge light wires exit bundle as loose wires
3 - bundle for wiper relay (not shown) and misc in console
    4 - HVAC controls

No apparent problems with 3 or 4 reaching console connections.

Seems like point 2b needs to be closer to where point 2a is shown to provide more wire length to the gauges. Trying to accomplish that moves the bulky junction of 1, 2 and 3 to a position that interferes with the needed location of the main duct.

Point X is where a wire clip originally existed on the back of the tach. I couldn't determine which part of the harness should be there so I removed it attempting to get more clearance.

Any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.
    Mike
