FWIW: Attached is extract from p361 of 1980 Assembly Manual. Appears that "Solenoid" came standard with auto transmission L48 (MV4) and LG4 (M33, 305ci California).

"Z" note indicates L82 with (M38 or M40 Automatic Transmission) also had "Solenoid".

No mention of "Solenoid" with M18 Manual Transmission cars.

LOL. Be assertive and tell the team that in 1980, four-speeds did not require the idle-stop solenoid. They can check either the AIM or the TIMJG. They probably won't know for sure so you'll have educated them. Unless it's Patrick!
