    1963 Carpet Overlap at Console

Since someone who shall remain nameless removed the original carpet years ago and failed to take pictures, does anyone know how much overlap there should be on the console (should carpet just cover the screw holes or be cut back further?).The photos are on the driver side - the passenger side does not have the amount of excess. Since the carpet from Al Knoch is foam "padded" underneath, any excess makes it difficult to overlay trim and retain the proper fitment. I have some great carpet-capable shears that I am tempted to use. Measure twice, cut correctly, avoid cursing.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Fred

I had to trim both sides on my 64. I used an insulation product which adds to the thickness, plus the 64 console is 1 piece. As best I recall, the insulation stopped at the top of the tunnel and the carpet near the screw attachments.
