Question On GM Wire Harness Tape

Have a roll on the above; friction tape without adhesive. Any tips on using this
type of tape to secure the ends?(So it will not unravel) I can see at the start of the application the tape
can be secured by proper coil wrapping. At the other end there is no way to do this.
Any idea's? Comments? Thanks in Advance>Larry P.S. Perhaps some "heat"
    applied to the ends???

As I recall Larry, at the end you just loop it back and under the last few loops and pull tight.
That will result in a small end not twisted around anything. (rather difficult to describe)

      Hi Larry,

It was not friction tape. It was regular electrical tape, but without the adhesive.

I believe the tape at the end of the harness was tied so it would not un-ravel. Look on the Lectric website - there may be a photo that show it better. Others may know too.

Here is a picture of the original rear wiring harness at the gas tank sending unit. you can see that it is tied. Hope this helps.

James West: Very nice ending of the tape. Don't know if I could ever do that. Is this done the way
Alan suggests on above thread?? Thanks>Larry

OK;thanks to all for some idea's. Just have a small "patch" job on the starter harness
between the Pass. Side firewall and Cylinder head. Hard to see from the top of engine.

Here's are 2 original (a 67 and late '63) Headlight Bucket extension harnesses, showing the end loops tied back.

Zoomed looped ends on the '63 pieces. It's a single knot.

Re: Question On GM Wire Harness Tape

Update:OK;went well;looks good. Kinda lucked out as where the tape was ending was the clip
on the firewall where the wires go. So in essence the clip is holding the end of the
tape tight. Might add>Very Very tight in this area; not sure I could have tied the proper
knot. Larry and thanks to all
