Re: 1967 strut adjusting bolt hardware finishes
The current judging manual describes strut rod Camber adjuster and hardware finishes. There are 2 types with different “M” markings on either the head or on the face of cam. I agree with how the finishes are listed in the judging manual for the cam and bolt. My question is simply this - is the hardware that faces the rear of the car including the flying “F” cam adjuster, tall nut, and the lock washer are all zinc plated? I have seen several unrestored cars that have had the “M” on the face of cam adjuster (cam and bolt both black phosphate) with a zinc plated rear flying “f” cam and black phosphate lock washer and black phosphate tall nut. Can anyone show me that their original lock washer and tall nut were zinc?
My original washer and nut off of my car appears to be black phosphate. Car is from Arizona and I have been very fortunate to have some of the nicest bolts and nuts to restore that all have been able to distinguish the finish all of the nuts or bolts.
By the way my car is first week of production in Sept of 66 if that makes a difference.
I need to restore the cam and bolt with black phosphate and I think I need to include the lock washer and tall nut.

The nut was a medium gray phosphate which might have varied to a dark gray.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
