Re: Need some help with E'69 bellhousing paint

    Hello,
I maybe should start a new thread but wondering if the clutch dust shield that attaches to the lower front of the bellhousing was also "orange oversprayed" or was it put on the car / bellhousing at a later point during assembly. My dust shield is black (not a drop of orange on it). It looks to me like it was powder coated black. Thinking this is a GM Service Replacement since there is also the presence of a sticker on the front of the dust shield and I have not located a GM stamped PN anywhere?

      That’s a replacement.

It should be painted in place when the engine and bellhousing are painted. This would include the bolts that hold it in place.

          Update 10-13-2024

Wanted to post the "After" pictures of my bellhousing and the bolts. The clutch dust shield is also done, left the black paint on the inside for extra protection of the metal, front side painted orange. Correct (6) bellhousing bolts are all in place. Things continue to move forward on this restoration although it feels like at glacier pace some days.

          - bolts all media blasted, threads cleaned and chased, black phosphate parkerized, then bolt heads painted orange
          - media blasted the clutch fork and used VHT Satin Clear 2-coats to keep it "natural" looking
          - new black rubber boot sourced to replace the cracked original clutch fork boot that has seen better days

Thank you all for the help.
