    car cover

My 66 will be stored in my heated garage for the winter. I want to purchase a good cover. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

California Car Cover might be one of the covers you look at.

For inside storage I really like the tan flannel covers. They are pretty inexpensive at ~$125-$150 compared to the techno-tornadoblizzardblocking-whizbang fabric covers. I like them because they're good for protection against rubs and bumps and readily transfer any moisture. I'm on my third for my '67 in the last 40+ years because the fabric does weaken over time and ends up ripping when you pull on it to stretch it over the nose or rear bumpers.

For just inside storage you don't need anything fancy. You're just trying to keep dust from accumulating.

A Budge Lite size 3 will do just fine.. less than 30 bucks from Walmart.

If you plan on sitting or laying on the car or piling junk on top of it a flannel lined cover might help, otherwise...

I bought the Premium tan flannel Onyx cover a few years ago for approx. $150. Easy on and off. Has elastic built in on the bottom. Pockets for side mirrors. Nice fit. Only negative is no hole for antenna. (I manually remove the antenna before cover goes on). I throw plastic tarps over the top of the cover for long term (6 months) storage just to keep the dust off the flannel cover.

I use a feather duster on the car before I apply the cover on to it.

After an expensive paint exercise, money was no object for me to keep it protected in my garage. And it looks nice with the cover on (without the tarps, of course!)

Bill: Don't use tarps! Since they don't breathe, moisture is trapped which can damage paint.

Here's a good car cover discussion thread:
            https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthread.php?127747

            Quoting myself:
"Avoid using a cover that does not breathe (like a plastic drop sheet). Trapped moisture will damage paint.

For a custom cover, I prefer CoverKing. They have fewer seams and tend to reach further down than other brands.

You can save $ by buying a custom fitted cover from one of the large Corvette houses (as Daniel suggests). They buy and stock quantities of custom covers from the manufacturers and get a good price. Delivery lead time is better too. The problem is they usually only offer covers with two mirror pockets, even for cars with only one mirror (like 1970). You can choose what you want by buying directly from Coverking.

Because I have a working garage, I prefer a thick cover that better protects against accidental impact. I've lusted after Coverking's moving blanket custom cover but it's over $500. As an affordable alternative, I stack three covers together. The newest, cleanest cover goes on first. Install and remove them together. It's a baggy look, so probably not your choice if you have a show garage.

I really like the looks of the blue custom LT-1 cover Dennis spotted (see original thread). But for outside, I prefer an unfitted, loose fitting cover that doesn't easily reveal the type of car (like when I'm parked in a motel parking lot on a road trip). For this,
Budgecovers.com offers affordable, high-quality "semi-custom" covers that fit well on Corvettes."

Currently, instead of stacking three covers, I now sandwich Harbor Freight moving blankets (two large ones cover the entire car) between two car covers. Again, you can roll them on and off together like one heavy cover.

I second the California Car cover. Had one on my 72 for over 23 years and it is as soft as the day it was delivered. Soft flannel on the inside

I rarely cover my car in the garage because, here in Texas, we fortunate to be able to drive year round. But, when the occasion arises and I need to cover the '67, I use a flannel cover that I got from Corvette America over a dozen years ago.

I agree with Mark & Gary,
                      California Car Cover . . . .
Might be a few bucks more, but, for the value of my vettes, I bought their plush weave cover and couldn't be more pleased with it for indoor storage.

I've been using the same CCC on my 66 Impala for 43 years the one on my 67 Corvette 28 years.
