Re: C2 gas pedal spacer and attachment screws
The spacer was installed to "level" the carpeting under the pedal. I believe the spacer should be the same thickness as the jute padding on the back of the carpeting. So if the jute is 1/2" thick you'd use a 1/2" spacer. Maybe GM upgraded the jute in 1965 to a thicker type. The aftermarket folks probably use the same jute in all C2 applications.- Top

Re: C2 gas pedal spacer and attachment screws
I purchased a spacer from a vendor and installed it during a carpet replacement project on my 64 convert. Using AK carpet I could not catch the threads on the gas pedal with the vendor spacer in place. I found a thread in this forum that had a schematic drawing of a spacer with dimensions. The vendor spacer was twice the thickness as the drawing spec. Other dimensions were the same. I made a spacer from scrap wood I had laying around. Worked perfectly. I don't know if different years of C2s had different spacer dimensions - they may have. I suspect the spacers were of a different thickness depending on the carpet backing.
Comment # 6 in the thread at this link has the dimensions of an OEM spacer https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...=carpet+spacerEd- Top

Agree, I took my repro one and sliced it in half. Not perfect but it works.

Re: C2 gas pedal spacer and attachment screws
In case anyone wants to create their own spacer out of wood, here are drawings based on Alan Drake’s measurements of the ‘63-‘64 (0.22” thick) spacer and my measurements of the ‘65-‘67 (0.5” thick) spacer. I doubt the relatively minor differences in the in-plane dimensions are critical. The out-of-plane thickness difference is critical. As is the use of the appropriate screws.

Using those measurements, I could produce them in both thickness's with my son's 3-D printer. If making them yourself, MDF would be a suitable material.Leif

On original cars that I have seen (64) the carpet backing is a thin foam, ie NO jute! Have seen some 64 that owner claim are original with jute backing however found other items on carpet that leads me to believe NO jute was used, however ????

Re: C2 gas pedal spacer and attachment screws
Alan, your comment raises a question - if GM used different thickness spacers I think they would also have had to use different length screws to secure the accelerator base. Also, the jute - no jute issue, at least as it applies to 64s. It is my understanding that GM used different carpet backing materials, depending on whether the carpet was going into a convertible or a coupe. Converts had foam - coupes had jute. Thoughts?Ed- Top

Using Alan's drawings, my son whipped these out in about 15 minutes on his 3-D printer last night. He used a semi-clear filament but they can be made out of just about any material. Thought it was pretty cool what can be made in such a short period of time using modern tech.Leif
