    Holley fuel inlet seal/gasket

Working on leak vicinity inlet nut, Holley 3367. I have three gaskets on hand ... not sure which provides best seal. Recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Jeff, I suspect what you need are 3/8 copper flare gaskets. Available from
Granger, Amazon etc. The flare mating surfaces are what provide the fluid-tight seal.

Chris - fuel line is nominal 5/16" OD, not 3/8. I'm not familiar with use of these flare gaskets ... should Cu gasket size selection match fuel inlet pipe diameter?

Brian - I'll try the thin Al with 518, as well.

        Thanks to both.

Jeff the factory tubing is 3/8ths. This is what you want:

Chris - no, the stock pump-to-carb hardline ('66 327/300) is 5/16" OD. If the gaskets are sized/selected by tube size, then assume Parker 2GF-5 (5/16) is appropriate. If the gasket selection is by dia of upset/flared end, then 3/8" approximates flare dia on a 5/16" tube. Thanks,
            Jeff

With a Parker 2GF-5 (5/16) flare gasket + thin 0.018" Al Holley + thin smear of 518 + 24 hour cure -- all's well & bone dry. Loosened carb hold-down nuts flush w/top of studs, lifted carb a bit, allowing fuel line pipe nut w/Cu flare gasket balanced atop to enter Holley fitting at exact correct angle. After cure time, snugged the hold-down nuts. Thank you Chris & JB.

I'm not familiar with fuel line flare gaskets. Were they sometimes used by the factory?

Or is this a way to compensate for damaged flare mating surfaces?

Mark I discovered flare gaskets from my old buddy John McRae of the New England chapter. Tri-Power has about 28 flare connections and the gaskets are the best thing since sliced bread. Think crush washer...same idea. Much easier to get a seal with copper versus steel. Factory definitely never used them.

Jeff, I just tackled a serious leak at that gasket, which had come loose during storage over the summer. The black aluminum one was on there and it was a simple matter of removing the fuel line nut, tightening the 1" fitting you show and then reattaching the fuel line nut.
