early 66 L36 positive battery cable question

I have a very early 66 L36 427 with a sept 21 1965 build date , i have no sign of any retaining clip to hold the positive on the firewall , i have stripped all the paint away and no sign of any screw or rivet holes. I have gone thru old threads and a point was brought up that there was a change on 10-4-65 showing the clip on the tunnel next to the speedometer cable clip . Could the very early BB cars have used the plastic tie on the battery shield like the small block cars till that update on 10/4/65
any info or thoughts would be great
