Re: 1960 Convertible Top Front Latch Advice
If you do get a repop latch you need to remember that the C1 Convertible header was more rounded and so then also the backing plate of the latch. The hard tops header is different, so the backing plate and latch is tapered. I think most if not all of the vendors only sell the hardtop configuration. You have to look out for that when buying an NOS latch as well, to be sure you get the right one. As well as looking for the short handle variety. So if you can try repairing the one you have, that might be worth a try.- Top

I could be wrong, but looking at my latches, I think that pin could be replaced with an appropriate flat head rivet and then carefully peen the other side in a press... I'm sure you can find a replacement torsion spring as well. McMaster Carr is a good source of these things. Did you check that the latch bottom is rounded vs wedge shaped (i.e. is a real soft top latch)?- Top

I will say that experienced judges you will encounter at the higher levels of judging (and some chapter events where they are locals) are like Corvette Wizards and can often tell the difference from even minor details. In my experience, you will be held to a higher standard of scrutiny of "correctness" at a national than a chapter event, though standards are the same. It's like the chapter even is meant to prepare you for the higher level ones. For my part, I like to try and repair my original parts where possible vs use reproductions, as often there can be issues with fit and finish.- Top

Not sure why I didn't think of it before, but a threaded post with screw would probably work as well, and perhaps an easy fix. The slotted end would give it away if noticed though.
